“Say no to bully” – Ibrahim Chatta, Afeez Owo, and other stars show support for Toyin Abraham
The Yoruba movie industry is standing in solidarity with their colleague, Toyin Abraham, who is being persecuted on social media for arresting a bully.
The filmmaker is under heat for arresting one of her trolls and leaving him in police custody for some time. One of the trolls had accused the actress of detaining his mother, a claim the actress denied by stating that the said mother refused to leave the police station due to her son’s arrest.
Following this, Nigerians had massively reported her to the streaming platform Netflix for her movies to be taken down. Netizens urged the streaming platform to boycott her movies and take a firm stance against her behaviour.
Showing support for her, many of her colleagues took to their Instagram pages to defend the movie star.
Ibrahim Chatta penned a note to Toyin, appreciating her for speaking against bullying in all its forms.
“Hello Mrs Ajeyemi (Mummy Ire) @toyin_abraham
Thanks so much for speaking against bullying in all its forms, aspects and shapes. Olohun A wo omo re o, e ni ti o je gbi, kii ku gbi.
GOD gat u, and I love u wholeheartedly”.
Afeez Owo had reshared a post from Yinka Quadri where he urged all actors to unite and take a stance against bullying, noting how emotional blackmail is no joke.
Allwell Ademola, on her part, had noted the double standards on social media. She stated that sometimes she wonders why it is okay to bully celebrities, but when they react, they are being tagged as petty and bullies.
“This social media and double standards. Sometimes I just wonder, so it’s okay to lie, insult, abuse, and bully a celebrity, but if the celebrity reacts, she’s petty and a bully, Abi? Koboru
Everybody get blood, celeb or not. We can actually do better”.
An hour ago, Alesh Sanni had noted how some Nigerians are on another level of bitterness and are frustrated souls looking for who to recruit into their fucking frustrations. He noted how they bullied Toyin to the extent of cursing her child and instigating death on a young, innocent soul, and yet when she arrested him, they attacked her.
Veteran Saidi Balogun slammed those trolling her, as he noted everyone used the police to arrest their neighbours for the smallest offence but made it a bullying case when it involved a celebrity. Balogun spoke on behalf of his colleagues who are being emotionally blackmailed because they are celebrities, saying they should be free to act without judgment since netizens are free to speak.
Biola Bayo spoke about how she had tried to contact Toyin several times but to no avail. The mother of one prayed that God would stand by and strengthen Toyin Abraham in this difficult time and that her light would never go dim.
